Houston Aeros Booster Club

Minutes for 2/11/04

A Board of Directors meeting of the Houston Aeros Booster Club was held on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at Tortuga Cantina, Woodlake location. President Ivan Kusjanovic, Secretary Erika Kusjanovic, all five Directors (Helen Brown, Tom Huber, Dale Humphrey, Melanie Ogren, and Mark Strace), Webmaster Patrick Humphrey, Table Chair Barbara Pride, Editorial Chair Sharilyn Prideaux, and Scrapbook Chair Jean Strace were present. A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order at 7:20pm.

Reports

The Booster Club is helping send over 50 children to the Wednesday, February 18, 2004, 11am game. Donations were collected at the Booster Club table at numerous home games. The booster club also donated 10 tickets ($70.00) to the Houston Aeros Charities for this event. This event is educational as well as entertaining. Children will be provided books that tie in hockey with math and geography.

Melanie Ogren made a motion, via electronic mail, on January 28, 2004 to have the banquet committee purchase crystals & bases, at $8.50 each, plus shipping, for the player appreciation award. Erika Kusjanovic seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.

Unfinished Business

The Booster Club Appreciation banquet will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at the Warwick Hotel. Tickets will cost $750 for an entire table, $70 per individual (non-member), and $60 per individual (member). Checks should be made payable to the Houston Aeros Booster Club. There will be a cash bar. Place mats will include drawings by children at Kids Unlimited. Jack Ezell will speak about Kids Unlimited. Olyn Taylor will provide music for the evening. Susan Neuhalfen, from Aeros Charities, will be in charge of the silent auction. Checks for payment of auction items should be made payable to Kids Unlimited. The banquet committee will meet on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 to discuss remaining details. The committee is requesting volunteers to help set up the event and work the registration table. They are working on getting ticket and program printing donated. They are working on getting the banquet announced on the public address system at the Aeros home games. They will offer approximately 50 complimentary tickets to the team and others that have helped put on this event. They will offer discounted tickets ($30) to the Aeros staff. Voting is still going on for the Sportsmanship and Tailgunners award. An award for most points will be given. Tom Huber made a motion to give the James Domengeaux award to Chris Bala and Jeff Hoggan for their work organizing the teddy bear charity drive. Barbara Pride seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.

Mark Strace made a motion to give Melanie Ogren and Ivan Kusjanovic 24 hours to contact David Ryan, Esquire, and find out the status of the incorporation. Tom Huber seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. Mark Strace made a motion that if at the term of those 24 hours the club is not incorporated, the booster club would draw a check from the checking account for the balance of said funds in that account. Melanie Ogren, Tom Huber, and Erika Kusjanovic would use those funds to open a new checking account with the DBA Houston Aeros Booster Club. Tom Huber seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. Melanie Ogren made a motion to appoint Tom Huber as Assistant Treasurer until the incorporation is complete. Helen Brown seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.

New Business

The board agreed to send Kevin Kelly a get well card.

The San Antonio Rampage Booster Club will be attending the game in Houston on February 28, 2004. Sharilyn Prideaux will contact Chairman Donna Papin to see if they would be interested in having dinner with our club prior to the game.

The Louisiana Ice Gators Booster Club will be attending the game in Houston on Saturday after the banquet. Melanie Ogren will contact them to see if they would be interested in a social event prior to the game.

Sharilyn Prideaux will check the Texas A&M University Hockey Team schedule to see if there is a game the booster club can attend in the near future.

The next general meeting will be Wednesday, February 18, 2004, at 7pm at Patrenella’s on Jackson Hill.
