Old Business:
Website - Ivan stated that paid for a one-year renewal at a cost of $8.25. Erika asked that the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure information be added to the website. Also, it was suggested a map to pre-season games should be added. Melanie advised that the updated minutes will go on the website.
Ivan advised that he is still searching for committee members for the website. Heidi volunteered to be on the committee. The observation was made that there was a possibility of members believing the committees were full because the liaison names appeared beside the committee listing.
Melanie advised that we still need to update the signers on the bank account.
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure walk on October 6, 2007 was discussed. They are still looking for volunteers. A link to participate in the walk and a link to join the team will be on the website. Dan Boutureira is in charge of the Aeros walk team. Orientation for both events is September 27, 2007, 6:30 pm-9:30 pm at the United Way building
Melanie advised that tge membership applications were sent out in the season ticket holder packages. David printed out the applications that were sent. Together, this saved over $180 in mailings.
Kristi advised that the MySpace page is still being worked on but should be fully operational soon. Currently, the page is set to private while it is being completed.
Kristi asked for pictures for the scrapbook. Melanie advised to contact Kids Unlimited to see if they had any pictures from the 2006-2007 season.
Tom advised that he and Barbara are making a wheel for the Booster Club table. The wheel will be portable, and sit on an easel. The wheel will not be out at every game. Barbara is also putting out a history of the club; there will be a large version to sit on the easel and a smaller version for the table for people to pick up. Patrick advised that there is already a link on the website for volunteers to work the table. There should be two at a time working the table and there will not be two first-timers working together. Heidi offered to provide graphics for the table.
The Astros baseball game ticket sale was successful. 20 tickets were sold and the Astros sent the tickets to John's house at no charge.
Margaret advised that the premium item was ordered and shipped by UPS ground to her house. She is going to make sure the shipment has actually gone out. Reimbursement will be made to Margaret for the cost.
Melanie advised that Ryan Stanzel had gone to Minnesota and Scott Henninger is the new contact person. Scott was a PR intern with Minnesota last year. She also advised that she is still waiting for approval from the coaches on dates.
Margaret advised that she talked to Courtney regarding assisting at the Aeros Charities silent auctions. Courtney advised that no items from the auctions had been stolen previously, but she would appreciate the extra eyes on auction days. Margaret also advised Courtney that the Booster Club would like to assist at the hospital by possibly joining the Aeros Charities personnel in handing out cookies and punch to the kids.
Mealnie advised that she is still waiting to hear on a banquet date and as soon as we receive a date from the office, we should get started on the planning.
Club shirts were discussed and Nelanie advised that she will contact Joyce Morris to see if she is still interested in assisting with this.
Melanie advised that she would like to wait on the newsletter until we get more membership in the Club and then recruit. Kristi has advised that she has already found a couple of volunteers.
New Business:
Melanie brought up the subject of committee chairs having voting privileges for this year only. There must still be a minimum number of board members present for a quorum and the chairs could only vote at the meetings. If the chair is not present at the meeting then s/he would not be able to cast a vote. David made a motion to allow committee chairs to have voting privileges for this year only. Tom seconded the motion. Motion passed 6-3.
Margaret introduced a new money-raising idea, Macy's Shop for the Cause. Members would sell Macy's coupons (20% off all items purchased on a particular day) for $5. The organization would keep all money made. It was already too late to be involved this year, but Margaret would like this to be considered next year. Mealnie also advised that she and Margaret had discussed the possibility of raising money with a Club garage sale.
Melanie advised that the Kids Unlimited Bass Touranment is approaching on October 27, 2007 at Fayette County Lake. There will be a need for volunteers and fishermen. It was suggested that a caravan be arranged for attending.
Melanie suggested that possible dates for bus trips to San Antonio could be October 27, December 29, and March 23. Kristi advised that she may have a contact for buses and will check into the pricing.
The AHL All-Star Classic is being held in Binghamton, New York on January 27 and 28, 2008.
Melanie advised that Dan Boutureira let her know the dates for the special-event nights, as follows: Breast Cancer Awareness on November 2, Nilitary Night on November 10, Deaf Night on December 1, Guns & Hoses on December 26, and the Kids Game on January 10.
