Minutes

A general membership meeting of the Houston Hockey Booster Club, Inc. was held on Tuesday, October 17th, 2006 at SRO Sports Bar in Houston, Texas. President Mark Strace presided over the meeting.

Executive Board members present at the meeting: Mark Strace, Melanie Ogren, Helen Brown, Joel Konkel, Kate Cleveland, Erika Kusjanovic, and Christiane Pitts.

The meeting was called to order at 7:15 PM.

The meeting started with the discussion of current open committees and an overview of the chairpersons and positions. Positions still open are for the Membership Committee and the Activities and Events Committee. There is also one remaining Director seat vacant.

The date for the charity banquet has been set for February 15th, 2007.

A new meeting place was discussed: Chatters, in the Heights.

Under new business and information, the Houston Aeros fans were voted "Best Sports Fans" in Houston by the readership of the Houston Press. The Booster Club will be receiving a plaque to display at the Booster Club table during games.

Margaret martin discussed Aeros Deaf Night and gave an overview of the raffles for the general members present.

Ideas for November events were discussed. Julie Coulter mentioned an upcoming Kids Unlimited Ranch work day. Helen filled in on a potential Feed the Team day on November 12th. She is waiting to hear back from Matt Shaw. Mark discussed the option for a road trip to Beaumont for a Texas Wildcatters game.

A tentative date was set for the Booster Club road trip to San Antonio: April 14th, 2007.

The topic of the Booster Club dasher board was presented to the general membership. In addition to the dasher board, he Booster Club will also have the opportunity to place periodic announcements on the "ring" advertising screen around the arena. Mark put the vote to the general membership. The motion passed with one opposing vote by Margaret, who was not in agreement that the expense of the dasher board sign overruled the benefit of it.

Mark moved on to discuss the possibility of creating T-shirts and sweatshirts for the club. The idea will be examined by the Board of Directors.

November 3rd is Houston Aeros Military Night. Tom Huber suggested that this would be a great opportunity for the Booster Club to sponsor tickets for those in the military, and their families. He further suggested that the tickets should be half donations and half from the Booster Club treasury. The final decision was made to guarantee $450 towards tickets, and that we collect donations to offset the expense. Any excess would go toward providing more tickets. The motion was seconded by Melanie and Christiane and passed unanimously.

Erika then brought up the discussion of TABC certification for the general membership. Information about the actual certification process was carified, as well as who might be interested in such certification.

The club still needs a website domain host so that we can link our two sites together. The club is still looking for someone to do this.

The evening's last piece of business was discussion of when to hold the Feed the Office event for Aeros staff. A date after November 10th was mentioned, in need of more discussion.

A motion to adjourn was presented at 8:20 PM by Tom, and seconded by...everyone.
