General Meeting 

December 16, 2008

 

 

 

A general meeting of the Houston Hockey Booster Club, Inc. was held on Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at Mama’s Café in Houston, Texas.  President, Margaret Martin, presided over the meeting.  Executive board members present were Ivan Kusjanovic, Melanie Ogren, and Patrick Humphrey.  Also in attendance were Scott Ogren, John and Cheri Peper, Dale Humphrey, Erica Kusjanovic, Lisa and Nancy Whitmire, Rosie and Judith Teague, Steve Dean, and Timor Martin.  The guest speakers were Pete Donnelly, ex-WHA Goalie for the New York Raiders and Jan Popiel, ex-WHA Aero.  The meeting was called to order at 7:20 pm. 

 

Margaret welcomed everyone and thanked them for coming to the meeting.  The following items were discussed: 

 

1.  Activity for Dec. – Ice skating and Winter Wonderland Walk, Sat., Dec. 20th at

     7 pm at the Woodlands Mall.  Meeting at the entrance to the ice skating.

2.      Collecting for Guns & Hoses Night on Tuesday, Dec. 30th.  Box is here if   

      anyone would like to make a donation.

3.      Banquet is schedule for Tuesday, Jan. 20th.  Forms are here if anyone wants one.  There are only four more home games to buy your tickets. 

4.       Voting is also underway for Best Offense, Best Defense, and Fan Favorite.  Ballots are also here if anyone wants one.  All ballots must be in by Dec. 31st. 

5.      Kristi Parrott is the new Charity Chair.  John Peper made a motion to accept Kristi as the new Chair.  Ivan seconded it and it passed unanimously. 

6.      We’re starting to collect items for our auction if anyone is interested, please contact Kristi.

7.      Hockey 101 that Asst. Coach Luke Strand offered at our last general meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 17th at 7 pm at SLICE.  More info will come later on that.

8.      Next Feed The Team is Saturday, January 17th.  Sign up sheet is here if anyone wants to sign up. 

9.      We’ve got B.C. hockey stick pens for sale for $1.00.  We have some here so if anyone’s interested please see Lisa.

10.  Raffle for Jan Popiel autographed B.C. puck.  Tickets are one for $3 or two for $5.  See Lisa for tickets.  

 

We sold $4.00 worth of pens and $25.00 worth of raffle tickets.  Money to be given to Barb. 

 

Floor was turned over to Pete and Jan:  Pete brought old hockey gear from different years, dating back to 1930.  He discussed different items and the evolution of goalie gear.  He stated that his nephew, Mike Giroux, now plays for the Washington Capitals.  Pete and Jan told a little of the history of hockey.  They also told funny stories about the times they played and Gordie Howe.  The floor was then open to questions and answers by Pete and Jan. 

 

The raffle was drawing was done by Jan Popiel.  Margaret Martin won the puck.

 

The meeting was then adjourned at 9:05 pm.
